Money desk · The cost worksheet

The full bill belongs beside the offer.

Have the total written out, with each included charge. Keep the first bill apart from the one that repeats.

Ask who will bill each charge. A blank line can wait for an answer.

List each charge.Write down the medicine cost, care fees and anything billed separately.

What does the headline price cover?

A medicine’s published list price, cash offer and insured payment can be different amounts for the same product.

“List price” means the maker’s published price. Ask which kind of price the offer is showing you.

For semaglutide (Wegovy) injection, the government price directory showed a $199 starting monthly offer on September 26, 2026.

Eligible new patients paying without insurance could get their first two monthly supplies at that price, for the lower-strength injection pens. The printed terms ran through December 31, 2026.

A pen here is a device used to give the injection. Ask whether both supplies must be collected by that end date.

Later monthly fills were listed at $349, or $399 for Wegovy HD, the higher-strength semaglutide injection.

Inspect the government-listed offer

The directory describes an offer and its terms. Ask about the exact product and the terms available when you are considering care.

Ask for medicine charges apart from care fees. A starting offer is only part of the comparison.

Does a membership include the medicine?

Medicine usually cost extra on the online weight-care membership offers reviewed on September 26, 2026.

Ask what repeats, what changes after an offer, and what you owe if no prescription is given.

What would I actually pay?

Write the period each amount covers, such as a visit or a monthly charge. Use the same period when comparing offers.

How do I ask my insurer?

Tell the insurer the product name and proposed purpose. Ask whether your plan covers that use and what permission it needs in advance.

The September 26, 2026 coverage record lists uses such as diabetes or lowering heart risk for which Medicare drug plans could pay for semaglutide. Each plan’s own rules still applied.

For a hormone-care bill, ask the insurer about that medicine and the reason for using it.

Read the coverage context

Ask your insurer to confirm the result for the specific product and use.

What does “prior authorization” mean?

Prior authorization is an advance approval step with your insurer before it pays for a medicine.

The bill is only part of the decision. Check the claim behind the medicine too.
